I have always been interested in fitness. I played basketball and volleyball in High School, and that is where I realized I wanted to be a coach/trainer. I went to college to be a gym teacher, but life sent me in another direction. In 1998, I started the journey to become a trainer/coach and never looked back.
I started my fitness journey in 1998 with Group Fitness at Lifetime. In 2009 I was approached to try Crossfit. I never looked back. The methodology of what Crossfit was bringing to the table blew me away. I decided that day I would get certified and I was going to open my own box and try and get as many people as i could to follow me. Unfortunately, Crossfit was not accepted as I hoped for in the fitness world. I lost a lot of my following and friends do to this. I put all that aside and decided to move forward. Fast forward to 2012, I opened Crossfit Rua. I lost my husband to colon cancer in 2016 and lost everything I had worked for, including Crossfit Rua. I could have just given up at this point. Insteac, I took the pain and turned into strength. In the end Crossfit saved my life.
I coach from my heart. Helping people get stronger, healthier and have a good quality of life is always my goal. I try and keep it down to earth and fun for everyone. I try and lead by example.
