Welcome To CrossFit Warehouse

At CrossFit Warehouse, we want to assist in creating a community of like-minded people who are interested in pursuing personal fitness goals. Hopefully, through community and perseverance at CrossFit Warehouse health and wellness will become a lifestyle.

CrossFit trains your body in a functional way and in a different format than most have been accustomed to at a typical gym. You will be in and out in an hour, but you will have worked out not just harder, but smarter.  CrossFit delivers a different WOD (Workout of the Day) each and every day.  If you are bored with your current workout routine, don't want to spend hours at the gym anymore, or you are looking for a different way - your answer is CrossFit Warehouse.

At CrossFit Warehouse, you train in a small group with a coach working toward a common goal.  Members support and push each other to achieve things never thought possible.  The atmosphere of our group classes cannot be found at any typical gym.  This is at the heart of CrossFit, what helps you succeed in meeting your fitness goals and what keeps you coming back for more.  And yes, CrossFit is for you - CrossFit is for EVERYBODY.  Our clients are men and women ranging in age from high school students to retirees.

Athlete of the Month

  • JP HABERKORN

    Age: 29

    Occupation: Electrical Construction Engineer

In general, what is your athletic background? Ran cross-country and track in high school just to keep busy, but I was pretty useless in college.  Around the time I turned 25 I realized that I was really lacking in strength (my arms got sore from playing Wii tennis) and decided to make getting to the gym a big priority.

How did you learn about CrossFit Warehouse?  I knew about CrossFit but thought it was out of my league.  But after a few months without a good routine I just googled “CrossFit near Oak Lawn”.  Simple enough!

How has CrossFit Warehouse changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness? CFW has really given me a good outlet for stress, which just makes me a happier person in general.  No matter how crazy of a day I have at work I can always come in and take it out on the barbell.  There have been days I have come in frustrated after a really stressful day and walked back to my car after the WOD forgetting everything else that happened earlier.  CrossFit has also helped me become mentally stronger, accomplishing things I never thought I could do… it can show you that if you come consistently and try hard you can do some really cool stuff.

My lifestyle has become more structured since joining CFW, in order to make time for the gym I had to organize the rest of my life a little better.

My level of fitness has definitely improved by a lot.  When I started I couldn’t even do a proper air squat and had very little stamina, fast forward to now and I am absolutely in the best shape I’ve ever been in.  I feel stronger both mentally and physically and look forward to continuing to improve my lifts and skill movements.

List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Warehouse: Short-term goals would be to increase my squat numbers and do well in the upcoming Trodo Games.  I’m also planning on doing the open next year so Tom V won’t be mad at me about it anymore.  Long term I just want to stay injury free and maintain a good level of fitness for my adult life.

What do you like most about CrossFit Warehouse?  I think pretty much everyone else has said it, but the owners, coaches, and members are the best part.  The community we have is an awesome group of people who support each other and just have a good time in general.  I genuinely look forward to seeing everyone when I get to the gym and the social events are always a lot of fun too.  Wee had a blast doing the Tough Mudder together last year and I look forward to doing it again.

What is your favorite crossfit movement?  Heavy power cleans.  Something about flinging the barbell around at high speeds makes me feel cool.

What is your least favorite crossfit movement? Wall walks.  I would rather do 50 burpees than 5 wall walks.

Favorite WOD:  Filthy Fifty or the Spartan 300.  I really like chipper WODs a lot.

What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet?  Taking some time every Sunday to cook a lot of good healthy food for the week has been helping a lot.  The slow cooker helps too, just dump a bunch of healthy stuff in there and turn it on!  I feel a lot better during a workout if I’ve been eating well so I try to do the best I can with it. Beer is definitely my downfall and I’m certainly no stranger to the occasional Chipotle burrito (especially after deadlift day).

    Favorite movie: “Good Will Hunting”

Favorite and/or current book: Current book is Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy.

Favorite music genre/artist: Favorite artist is probably the Foo Fighters… Gary will be so proud.  I listen to pretty much everything, but in the gym you can turn off the country and turn up some loud rock like Rage Against the Machine or Audioslave.  Also, thug rap.

Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life: My biggest accomplishment is definitely getting the girl I did, locking it down and marrying her.  Brenda does really well with handling my overenthusiasm for CrossFit.  Some other achievements would be completing four Tough Mudders, and recently the Go Ruck challenge.

List a few things we don’t know about you: I played the guitar, clarinet, and bagpipes all reasonably well at some point in my life.

I was a frat boy in college, please don’t judge me.

Brenda and I live in a small zoo, we have two dogs and two cats.  We frequently have to lint roll ourselves before we come to the gym.

In 10 words or less, what does CF mean to you? Pushing limits to improve fitness and achieve physical and mental toughness.

  • Jen Borzenski

    Age: 42

Occupation: CrossFit coach. In my spare time, a stay at home mom and volunteer at St. Barnabas School.

In general, what is your athletic background? Growing up I was always involved in multiple sports: gymnastics very young, bowling, softball, volleyball, and cheerleading. Later in college I began running, strength training, and yoga.  As an adult I picked up tennis and golf.

How did you learn about CrossFit Warehouse?

    Tony and Noelle Rubino.

How has CrossFit Warehouse changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness?

As soon as I tried the intro class with Tony, I was hooked. I had just completed my first sprint distance triathlon and realized that I didn’t really care for the endurance-type training.

Crossfit has changed my life because it made me realize what I was capable of and pushed me to try things I never would have on my own. My lifestyle has definitely changed in terms of eating habits, and my overall feeling of confidence.  Both of these naturally get passed down to my 2 girls and to hear them talk about “getting stronger” to do well in the sports they love puts a smile on my face.

I can honestly say that age 42 I am the fittest I have ever been in my life.  I can say that I can hit the ball a little harder in tennis and a little farther in golf.

List short/long term goals you would like to accomplish through CrossFit Warehouse:

My short term goal, as a coach, is to continually encourage all of the awesome CFW athletes. When someone makes those small or big strides it is just fantastic to see.

As for long term goal… stay healthy and injury free (as much as possible) to continue to improve in terms of strength and endurance. And get that darn butterfly kip!

What do you like most about CrossFit Warehouse?

The people and the community at CFW. I have met so many great, interesting people. The athletes, coaches, and John and Mary are just wonderful. I would have never predicted that I would be a part of CrossFit- either as an athlete or a coach- so to be both is beyond words for me. Even when I am having a “not so great” day, coming to CFW makes it so much better.

What is your favorite CrossFit movement?

Burpees… who doesn’t like burpees? It’s just down and up again!

What is your least favorite CrossFit movement?

The Snatch. Ugh. I need to practice this a lot more!

Favorite WOD: Annie and Air Force and I really liked the open 14.5 last year, 21-18-15… of thrusters and bar over burpees, The Don, Filthy Fifty, and any ladders of 100, 90, 80, 70, etc.

What are you currently doing to try to improve your diet?

Ooohhh…. candy. I have a HORRIBLE sweet tooth.

    Favorite movie:

“Elf”, and any “Bourne” movies., “Christmas Vacation”, “Troy”, and “Gladiator”.

    Favorite and/or current book:

Girl with a Dragon Tattoo series & The Glass Castle (current). I wish my list were longer, I need to read more!

    Favorite music genre/artist:

It’s easier to list my dislikes: The Beatles, Cheap Trick & The Who

Anything else I will listen to… but not too much country.

Achievements you’d like to highlight within your life:

My two wonderful daughters and husband – they are really a blessing and not so much an “achievement”. Although sometimes just getting through a day with two girls is an achievement.

Earning my MBA. Marketing in 2001.

List a few things we don’t know about you:

Let’s see… my dad was in the Air Force so I have lived in a few places growing up: Utah (born in Salt Lake City), Ohio, Italy, North Carolina, Alaska, Michigan, and Illinois.

I have climbed to the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Mt. Vesuvius.  I have also walked on Matanuska Glacier in Alaska.

I like to sew and I am an above average bowler.

In 10 words or less, what does CF mean to you?

Never underestimate yourself. You are stronger than you think.
